PLAIN DEALER, TUESDAY, JUNE 20, 1989. 7-D OBITUARIES Dr. Elsie Snell, 83, was still practicing Dr. Elsie Snell practiced medicine for 57 years. She was a physician at both Amherst Hospital and Lorain Community Hospital until she died at the Lorain hospital Saturday of a' heart ailment.

Dr. Snell of Amherst was 81. She was born in New York City but came to Cleveland when she was 4. She took premedical courses at Cleveland College in 1928 and 1929. In 1933, she earned a medical degree at New York Medical College and interned at Woman's Hospital in Cleveland.

Dr. Snell was a charter member of the medical staff at Lorain Community Hospital and in 1948, was president of the staff at Amherst Hospital. In 1983, she was named Amherst Woman of the Year for her 50 years in medicine. The community held a parade and other events in Dr. Snell's honor.

During the. 1944-1945 term, Dr. Snell was president of the Business and Professional Women's Club in Amherst. In 1936, she was elected president of the club in Cleveland. Dr.

Snell was medical adviser for the Licensed Practical Nurses Association of Ohio in this area. Her husband, Carlisle, who also was a general practitioner, died in 1955. She is survived by a daughter, Susan Skeeter of Friendswood, Texas; a son, Carlisle of Kennewick, six grandchildren; and two sisters. Services for will be at 1 p.m. today at Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Amherst.

OTHER DEATHS Frank L. Gallitto, 80, of Largo, former co-owner of a gasoline station on St. Clair Ave. and father of Marlene Steele, whose husband, former Euclid Municipal Judge Robert was convicted of her slaying, died June 8 in a nursing home in Largo of hardening of the arteries. He 1 is survived by grandchildren Kevin Steele, 28, and 1 Brett Steele, 24, who lived with him in Florida.
