A Frozen mudslide drink recipe is the best adult version of a milkshake that is made with the right amount of ice cream and Kahlua. If you like Applebee's Mudslide recipe then you are sure to enjoy this recipe for a Frozen Mudslide drink.
Coat a tall drink glass with chocolate syrup for a nice chocolatey touch to this coffee-flavored ice cream co*cktail. The deep brown color of the Kahlua mixed with the ice cream gives this drink its signature color of a mudslide.
The dripping chocolate syrup on the inside of the glass imitates the sliding of a mudslide.
This iconic co*cktail recipe is served at many chain restaurants, however, you don't need to go to one of those restaurants to have one. You can create this frozen adult milkshake at home with only a few ingredients.
Plus making a Frozen mudslide drink at home allows you to customize it to your taste, this is the recipe I enjoy making at home.
This is one of my favorite drinks to order when we go out to dinner. Or even when we are feeling a little Froggie and have an afternoon co*cktail.
Frozen Mudslide Drink Recipe
Sometimes I do have a hard time choosing between a Frozen Mudslide drink recipe or a Bahama Mama co*cktail. This is another co*cktail recipe that I have asked my husband to recreate for me at home.
Now I will have to warn you this drink is high in calories so if you're watching your calories then you may only want one, plus they are very filling.
Since this recipe is made with Kahlua that means it has alcohol in it and is not for kids. This is an adult boozy milkshake.
Here are the ingredients that are needed to make this co*cktail.
- Ice Cream
- Kahlua
- Chocolate Syrup, is for garnish so it's not required but highly recommended for more flavor.
- Redi Wip is also for garnish
- Cherry to top it all off with
The tools that you need to make this co*cktail are pretty limited.
- A blender for mixing the ice cream and Kahlua together
- Ice Cream Scoop
- Shot Glass or jigger for measuring the Kahlua
- A tall glass
- A straw isn't necessary, however helpful to get the last bit out the bottom of a tall glass.
How To Make A Frozen Mudslide Drink
If you have followed My Creative Manner on social media like Facebook or have read any of my other blog posts. You know that I have a love of kitchen gadgets.
My husband has fueled this love by purchasing me some great small appliances over the years. One of the most recent was my Ninja blender. Which I totally love and has held up really well thus far.
The multiple blades make blending things like this frozen mudslide so much faster than a traditional blender would have.
If you have never had Kahlua before, it has a delicious rum taste, with a hint of vanilla and a strong coffee bean flavor. So if you are a coffee lover like me you will really enjoy Kahlua.
I have heard that it is pretty similar to Baileys Irish Cream. Baileys is on my list of must-tries, so if you have tried it I would love to know what you have made with it. Leave a comment below on what your favorite co*cktail with Baileys is.
Add the ice cream into the blender, we have found one cup of ice cream gives us a nice full tall glass. So if you would like a smaller version you can cut this recipe in half.
Mixing The Drink Together
Next, add the Kahlua to the ice cream and blend together until it's creamy. I have heard that some add vodka to their mudslides but I find using only Kahlua makes the best mudslide.
Once the ice cream and Kahlua are mixed together coat the inside of the glass with chocolate syrup. One trick we have found is to get the chocolate to stick to the glass better. Is by putting the glass in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to chill it.
It's time to pour that delicious concoction into the chocolate-coated glass. Then top it with the Redi Whip and cherry for a dessert in a glass adult style.
When you combine that rich coffee flavor with ice cream and a little chocolate syrup. You have the best adult milkshake ever that's perfect for a summer's evening on the deck.
If this is too much ice cream for you, you can separate this recipe into 2 8-ounce glasses and share it with a friend. Or cut the recipe in half for a smaller serving size. But honestly, it's so good you might not want to share this frozen mudslide drink recipe with anyone.
